Planning for the Future 

Family planning clinic provides education, counseling, medical services, referrals and follow -up visits that will help people plan their family size. The Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County (DOH-Santa Rosa) offers family planning to both males and females. A variety of birth control methods are available to childbearing age, including teens. We accept insurances, Medicaid and patients who are uninsured or underinsured.

The cost for birth control will depend on your ability to pay. This service is provided on a sliding fee scale determined by income and is strictly confidential.

Birth control methods and method counseling include:

  • Natural family planning
  • Abstinence
  • External and internal condoms
  • Vaginal rings
  • Birth control pills
  • Patch
  • Intra-uterine devices (IUD)
  • Implantable rods (Nexplanon)
  • Depo Provera injection

Emergency contraception is available along with referrals for tubal ligations and vasectomies.

Family Planning Medicaid Waiver 

The Medicaid Waiver for Family Planning is a special Medicaid waiver that extends for up to two years Medicaid coverage for women age 14-55 who have lost their full Medicaid coverage. Medicaid for Family Planning is limited to annual physical exams and pap tests, birth control including outpatient tubal ligations, and pregnancy tests. It will pay for STD and colposcopy services if performed within six weeks of the physical exam.

Women who have had a recent pregnancy will be automatically enrolled in the program for their first year of coverage.

Women who wish to complete an application should go to the Florida Department of Children and Families website to apply.
